How Quotive makes money — and why it keeps us independent
Checking quotes is free forever. Quotive earns a small booking fee — 0.75% for subscribers, 1.5% for non-subscribers — on jobs confirmed through the platform. Minimum £5, maximum £500. The fee is charged to the business at the moment of booking, not on completion. This means we only earn when a job is actually booked through Quotive. We have no incentive to inflate verdicts, favour certain traders, or push customers toward more expensive options. Our revenue depends entirely on good jobs getting matched and confirmed — nothing else.
Platform protection
Your protection only exists while the job stays on Quotive
The timestamped quote check, the questions and answers, the completion checklist, the dual sign-off record, and the dispute document are all stored permanently on Quotive. If a job is agreed outside the platform — by phone, WhatsApp, or handshake — that record disappears for both parties.
This applies equally to customers and businesses. A customer who books off-platform has no independent evidence if something goes wrong. A business who completes a job off-platform has no sign-off record if a customer later disputes the work. Keeping jobs on Quotive protects both sides — and it is free for the customer to do so.
Frequently asked questions
Is it really free — for anyone?
Yes. Checking quotes is free forever, for everyone. Renter, homeowner, bride, landlord, property developer, business owner getting an office refitted — it does not matter. No account needed, no subscription, no trial that quietly expires. We make money from a small booking fee on confirmed jobs, not from the people checking quotes.
What is the booking fee?
When a job is confirmed through Quotive, we charge the business a small booking fee — 0.75% for subscribers, 1.5% for non-subscribers — of the quoted job value. Minimum £5, maximum £500. The fee is charged at the moment of booking confirmation, not on job completion. For a £3,000 boiler replacement, that is £22.50 for a subscriber. For a £40,000 loft conversion, it is £250 (capped). This is how we stay independent — we only earn when good jobs get matched.
What kinds of quotes can I check?
Any quote with line items and prices. Boiler replacements, loft conversions, bathroom refits, electrical work, roofing, landscaping, wedding venues, photographers, caterers, florists, decorators, drainage work, damp proofing — if someone has sent you a quote, we can check it.
What happens when I cancel as a business?
You can cancel any time from your dashboard. Your profile stays active on the free tier — you will still be notified when quotes are checked, and you can still respond to verdicts. You just lose the ability to send verified quotes until you resubscribe, and the booking fee rate reverts to 1.5%.
How accurate are the price verdicts?
Verdicts are built from real completed jobs across the UK, updated continuously. We have location-specific data for major cities, so a boiler replacement in London is benchmarked against London jobs, not a national average. The more quotes are checked, the more accurate the data becomes.
Does the trader see what the verdict was?
Yes. When a quote is checked, the trader receives an email telling them the quote was reviewed. They see the overall verdict — fair, above market, or well above. This transparency is what changes their behaviour, and it is the single most powerful feature we offer.
Is there a limit on how many quotes I can check?
No limit. Check as many quotes as you like, for as many jobs as you have. It is free forever, with no restrictions.
What protection do I get by keeping the job on Quotive?
Every quote check, question, answer, counter-offer, and sign-off is timestamped and stored permanently. If a dispute arises, both parties receive the same unalterable record — independently generated, with timestamps for every action taken by either side. This record can be used in small claims court, with Trading Standards, or in any private resolution process. It does not exist if the job moves off-platform.
